Although the water near the mouth of San Juan Creek is still polluted, signs at Doheny State Beach warning of the water’s high bacteria level are often being destroyed by vandals, removed by children or damaged by the flocks of birds that congregate on the beach.
The signs at Doheny State Beach are often a victim of nature, Supervising Park Ranger Paul Brown said. People are also responsible for a number of the postings coming down. Brown said some, upset over the constant closures and bacteria warnings take their frustrations out on the signs.
