Riverside Notre Dame 51, L.A. Baptist 19--Derrick Johnson rushed for 347 yards in 24 carries and scored four touchdowns for the Titans at Riverside College.
The No. 2-seeded Titans (10-1) dominated the Knights on the ground, outgaining them 447 yards to 81. In all, they gained 564 yards and held L.A. Baptist (5-6) to 261.
After Knight quarterback Scott Swenson’s 42-yard touchdown pass to Steven Graham tied the score, 7-7, with 8:28 left in the first quarter, Notre Dame reeled off 21 consecutive points to take a 28-7 halftime lead.
Johnson had 208 yards rushing and three touchdowns by halftime.
Swenson connected with receiver Daniel Acuna on touchdown pass plays of 18 and three yards to cut the score to 28-19 with 3:21 left in the third quarter. However, Johnson answered with a 35-yard touchdown run with 52 seconds left in the third quarter for a 35-19 lead.
