LAPD Hiring
Re “LAPD Hiring Falters; Grant Funds Imperiled,” Nov. 11:
Nowhere in the article was a mention of the age limit (under 35 years old) for new police officers imposed by Chief Bernard C. Parks last year. I believe that if the age limit was increased or completely eliminated, more people in Los Angeles would apply for a position as police officers with the LAPD. The current age limit eliminates many individuals who have decided later in life that they would like to pursue a career as law enforcement officers with the LAPD.
I hope Chief Parks seriously considers this option.

LAPD wouldn’t have any problems recruiting new candidates if affirmative action goals were thrown out. Open the doors of opportunity to the most qualified and the problem disappears.
