Gardena 40, Monroe 28--Three big plays and an inability to capitalize on scoring opportunities combined to end the Vikings’ season at Gardena.

Gardena (8-3-1) used Trevin Richardson’s 84-yard return of a blocked field goal, Rory Otis’ 61-yard touchdown pass to Azzam Stallsworth on the first play of the second half, and Jason Pulemau’s 72-yard fumble recovery later in the third quarter to advance to the semifinals.

Monroe (1-11) lost fumbles on the opening kickoff and at the Gardena 10, and had first and goal at the three turned into a 36-yard field-goal attempt, which was blocked and returned for a touchdown.
