Man Pronounced Dead After Crash
A 77-year-old man died in a car accident Thursday morning that Los Angeles police said might have been triggered by a fatal heart attack.
The victim, whose name was not released, crashed into a fire hydrant on Hazeltine Avenue near Hamlin Street about 11:15 a.m. Thursday, police said.
Paramedics took the man to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No other vehicles were involved. Neighbors told police the man had a history of heart trouble, leading traffic investigators to suspect the man might have suffered a heart attack before the crash, said LAPD Officer Jim LaForce.
