Playoff Schedule Released
The New York Yankees will play their first two playoff games in prime time in the East, the Atlanta Braves will start in the daytime and the Arizona Diamondbacks will play in prime time in the West.
The Yankees will play the Cleveland Indians or Texas Rangers on Tuesday and Thursday, the commissioner’s office said Friday, with the opener to be broadcast by NBC and the second game by Fox. Games are scheduled to start at about 5 p.m. PDT.
In the other first-round series, the Boston Red Sox and Pedro Martinez will open Wednesday at Cleveland or Texas on Fox at 5 p.m. PDT, then play the following afternoon at 1 on ESPN.
Atlanta’s first two games, probably against the Cincinnati Reds or Houston Astros, will be Tuesday and Wednesday at 1 p.m. PDT, both on ESPN.
Arizona’s first two games, also probably against Cincinnati or Houston, will be Tuesday and Wednesday at 8 p.m. PDT.
