Yurada Strikes Twice, Leading OCC Women to Soccer Victory

Taylor Yurada scored two goals in the second half, rallying Orange Coast to a 3-2 victory over Fullerton in Orange Empire Conference women’s soccer Friday at Fullerton.

Yurada scored in the 51st and 82nd minutes on breakaways. Amanda Bell had six saves for Orange Coast (4-5-2, 2-0-1). Aundra Thompson made 14 saves and Kaylee Sybesma scored twice for Fullerton (3-9, 1-2).

In other Orange Empire conference games:

Irvine Valley 7, Golden West 1--Stephanie Baldwin scored two goals and Kim Reese had eight saves to lead Irvine Valley, which scored six goals in the second half.

Santa Ana 1, Riverside 1--Amanda Fults scored the tying goal for Santa Ana (8-1-4, 0-0-2) in the 58th minute with an assist from Noelle Garcia.

In Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer:

Fullerton 1, Orange Coast 1--Andrew May’s goal midway through the second half enabled visiting Fullerton (9-2-2, 2-0-1) to salvage a tie with Orange Coast (1-8-2, 0-2-1). Frank Cabrera scored for the Pirates.

Irvine Valley 2, Golden West 0--Andres Morgante and Hector Castillo each scored to lead host Irvine Valley (7-2-1, 2-0) to its fifth shutout of the season. Golden West is (1-8-1, 0-3).

In nonconference men’s water polo:

Saddleback 19, Long Beach 14--Jonny Geiger scored 11 goals for host Saddleback (8-4-1).

In the Cuesta women’s water polo tournament:

Golden West 14, Long Beach City 3--Chelsea Rowlands scored three goals for the Rustlers, who took an 8-1 lead at the half. Ten players scored goals for Golden West (12-0).
