Cleveland High Wins Arts Grant
Cleveland High School has won a $31,500 federal arts grant, Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks) announced Wednesday in Washington, D.C.
The “Schools for the New Millennium Grant,” given by the National Endowment for the Humanities, will support a program by Cleveland High and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art that integrates art with the study of American history.
The National Endowment for the Humanities grants aim to encourage schools to work with local businesses, libraries, museums, among others, to provide new educational opportunities for students.
“It creates connection that might not otherwise get created between high school kids and art,” Sherman said. “This kind of education is vital to a well-rounded education.”
Cleveland High, home of a humanities magnet school, applied for the grant jointly with LACMA.
