The men’s and women’s basketball teams will be introduced at midnight, followed by a 15-minute scrimmage by the men’s team. Admission is free.

The first 500 at the event will receive a coupon for a free hamburger. Performances by a rock band and the school’s varsity band are scheduled. There will be a student slam dunk contest for men and a student three-point shooting contest for women.

Regular practice sessions for both teams begin Saturday.

* Erin Whiteside, a 6-foot-1 center, will return for her senior season with the Cal State Fullerton women’s basketball team after graduating last spring.

Whiteside said she decided to remain in school and complete work toward a degree in finance after earning her degree in communications.

Whiteside has a year of eligibility remaining because she sat out her freshman season with a knee injury. She was the team’s leading scorer (13.7 points) and rebounder (9.3) last season.
