Staples Opening Night Leaves Family Cold

Share

Our expectations and enthusiasm were set on high as we set off for our first Staples Center event. Unfortunately, so were the air conditioning fans. Pumping out arctic air on all the upper deck (read: the commoners) sections presumably to reach those seated below, we were left in the cold. In Section 333 the unbearable conditions forced us and others to leave the arena early, something I have never done in eight years as a season-ticket holder at the Forum. My 4-year-old son woke this morning with sniffles and I have a stiff neck. I will not return until I get an apology and proof that the horrendous situation has been remedied.

How is it that no subway stop was built at the Staples Center? If ever there was a way to draw large crowds onto the subway, this was it. Imagine being able to ride from North Hollywood or Long Beach to the arena during the evening rush hour to catch a Laker game without sitting on the freeway.

What a missed opportunity!
