It’s the Changing of Guards for Eagles

In what has become an unusual situation that just might work, the Eagles are alternating the entire right side of their offensive line. It started with the rotation of veteran right guards Jeff Dellenbach and David Diaz-Infante. Now it will also include right tackles Lonnie Palelei and Jermane Mayberry. Beginning with last week’s game against the Dolphins, Dellenbach and Palelei started the game, and were relieved by Diaz-Infante and Mayberry in the second quarter. The hope is that the rotation will get the most out of four marginal players.

The Giants’ injury-riddled running game remains a huge concern. Starter Gary Brown is gone for the season, and just when rookie Joe Montgomery looked as if he might fill in nicely, he was lost for a month because of a broken left foot. That leaves LeShon Johnson as the only sound tailback.

The Redskins need to examine their kickoff and punt return units, which seem to permit a big play each week. No one was surprised when Deion Sanders returned a punt for a touchdown last week. The surprise would have been if he hadn’t done that.
