ANGELS REPORT

A high-ranking baseball source said that Disney has not yet sought permission to share financial information with Henry T. Nicholas III, the Orange County technology billionaire approached about purchasing the Angels and Mighty Ducks.

Disney officials have met with representatives of Nicholas to discuss a sale but baseball rules require the approval of the commissioner’s office before franchises can open their books to potential buyers. It is possible, sources said, that Nicholas and Disney could agree on the broad outline of a deal first and adjust a purchase price later.

Disney, trying to cut costs and boost its sagging stock price, might raise more than $300 million with the sale of the Angels and Mighty Ducks. Disney last week sold Fairchild Publications for a reported $650 million.
