all day: Movies

George Dunning’s 1968 psychedelic animated adventure, “Yellow Submarine,” will play a one-week engagement at the Nuart. In the classic film, the Fab Four (that’s the Beatles for you younger folks) travel to Pepperland to battle the Blue Meanies. The new 35-millimeter print is digitally restored and features never-before-seen footage of the musical number “Hey Bulldog.” The film, trippy as it is, is rated G, so it’s a multi-generational, all-ages treat.

* “Yellow Submarine,” Nuart, 11272 Santa Monica Blvd., West Los Angeles. The film will screen at 5:10, 7:30 and 9:50 p.m. through Sept. 9. Matinee showings will screen at 12:30 and 2:50 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Midnight show on Friday. $5 to $8. (310) 478-6379.

8 pm: Theater

Zany chaos reigns and cases of mistaken identity abound in Ken Ludwig’s hit screwball comedy, “Lend Me a Tenor.” Culture snobs in ‘30s Cleveland fear their prize imported Italian opera star, “Il Stupendo,” may be a no-show. Presented by International City Theatre.

* “Lend Me a Tenor,” Center Theatre, 300 E. Ocean Blvd., Long Beach. Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Ends Sept. 26. $28 to $32; opening, $39. (562) 938-4128.

8:30 pm: Music

“From the Bowl to the Moon--and Beyond!” is the entertainment filling the Hollywood Bowl this weekend, when the Bowl Orchestra, conductor George Daugherty, soprano Julia Migenes and veteran pop vocalist Gogi Grant combine their talents in music ranging from Dvorak and Holst to Weill, Kamen and Williams. The Bowl’s big screen will be up and occupied by NASA visuals, and surprise guests, including NASA astronauts, will appear.

all day: Theme Park

Just in time for summer to be over . . . but earlier than expected, rookie theme park Legoland is opening its first new ride, Aquazone Wave Racer. In the ride--based on a line of Lego toys, naturally--the hydronauts battle the stingrays for control of a “power hydrolator.” In other words, kids can bob and weave on their little power skis while water is squirted at them from every direction. Oh--and there’s something like 200 million Lego bricks involved.

* Aquazone Wave Racer at Legoland, 1 Lego Drive, off Interstate 5 at Cannon Road, Carlsbad. Open daily, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. $32; ages 3 to 16 or older than 60, $25. Parking, $6. (760) 918-5346.
