McDonald Gets Series Lead Back

Share

Dusty McDonald of Simi Valley lost his NASCAR late model series lead over Gerrit Cromsigt, then regained it Saturday night as the two chase the Irwindale Speedway track championship.

McDonald was driving a new car after he and his owner parted ways. He finished fifth in the first late model 30-lap race while Cromsigt took second. That put Cromsigt two points ahead of McDonald heading into the second 30-lap race.

But Cromsigt finished fifth, allowing McDonald--with a second-place finish--to take a 838-834 points lead.

Todd Burns of Riverside won both late model 30-lap races. He has won five in a row and six of eight.

T.K. Karvasek won both NASCAR super stock 25-lap races but came up two points short of winning the track championship in that series. Mike Price of San Pedro came into the evening leading Karvasek by 32 points. He finished 10th in the first race and seventh in the second to finish with 660 points to Karvasek’s 658.

Michael Thomas of San Marcos passed Dale Cromwell for the lead on the 18th lap and won the 30-lap American race trucks race.

Bobby Graham Jr. of Mira Loma took the lead on the second lap and won the 25-lap Legends series race.
