ORANGE COUNTY / PREP FOOTBALL : Ocean View’s Houston Goes 6 for 6

Deshai Houston completed 17 of 21 passes for 376 yards and six touchdowns to lead Ocean View High to a 48-22 victory over Twentynine Palms Friday night at Westminster High.

Houston completed two scoring passes in each of the first three quarters before leaving the game with five minutes left in the third quarter.

He started slowly--receivers dropped two of his first four passes--but he made up for it in a hurry.

Houston hit Brett Crevda with an 18-yard touchdown pass and converted a bad snap into a two-point conversion on a pass to Patrick Campbell to give the Seahawks an 8-0 lead.

Campbell’s 47-yard scoring strike to Luka Levu and Justin Kruger’s point-after increased the lead to 15-0.

An 85-yard pass from Kyle Sunderland to Johnny Palmer set up an eight-yard touchdown run by Sunderland for Twentynine Palms’ first score. A 21-yard interception for a touchdown by Palmer cut Ocean View’s lead to 15-14, still in the first quarter.

Houston went to work with second quarter touchdown passes of 20 yards to Campbell and 41 yards to Crevda. By the half, Houston had 276 passing yards.

He hit Levu with a 28-yard touchdown pass and Campbell with a 45-yard scoring strike to increase Ocean View’s lead to 42-14 before turning over the quarterback position to Campbell.

Levu caught six passes for 136 yards. Phillip Smith had three catches for 78 yards and Campbell had five for 90.
