The city’s summer concert series drew record-breaking crowds this year, the result of good planning and good luck, parks and recreation officials said.
“This year, perhaps because we established a tradition from the previous years, the concerts were so well-received by the community as a good family activity,” said Lori Jarmacz, the city liaison to the Cultural Arts Commission.
The average attendance at each concert this summer was at least three times what it was last year, Jarmacz said. A crowd of about 200 could be found at each of last summer’s events, but 600 to 800 people turned out for each of the eight 1999 concerts.
