Saugus 41, Simi Valley 14--David Parker passed for 380 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Centurions at College of the Canyons.
Parker, who completed 18 of 27 passes with one interception, teamed with wide receiver Nathan Steele on scoring pass plays of 60, 25 and 47 yards.
Steele did a little bit of everything for Saugus (2-0). The senior caught eight passes for 250 yards, converted on six of seven extra points, broke up a long Simi Valley pass in the second quarter, and sent six of his seven kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks.
Running back Brett Draimin ran 14 yards for the Centurions’ first touchdown in the first quarter and caught a shovel pass and broke loose for a 42-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
Calvin Bell, who rushed for 70 yards in nine carries and caught seven passes for 44 yards, tied the score, 6-6, for Simi Valley (0-2) with an eight-yard touchdown reception on the first play of the second quarter.
Saugus responded with three touchdowns before halftime, all on Parker passes.
