Pacifica Offense Runs in High Gear

Pacifica rolled to a 63-33 victory over Orange in a nonleague game Friday night at Bolsa Grande High.

Pacifica (1-1) scored on its first play from scrimmage--an 85-yard touchdown run by Jeff Weber--and it didn’t get much better for Orange (0-2).

Pacifica averaged more than 12 yards per play in the first half and scored touchdowns on its first nine possessions.

Pacifica’s ground game was efficient, piling up 258 yards rushing in the first half. Jared Kemp scored three touchdowns, rushing for 86 yards in nine carries, all in the first half. Javon Smith had 79 yards and a touchdown in seven first-half carries.

Quarterback Joey Fuske also got into the act, passing 10 yards to Jeremy Lovelace for a touchdown with 3 minutes 15 seconds remaining in the first quarter to make it 21-0.

Pacifica led, 28-0, after one quarter and led, 42-0, with 5:15 remaining in the half. Pacifica Coach Bill Craven began to substitute his reserves into the game, but they also produced.

Ted Telemaque returned a kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown to make it 49-7 with 2:14 remaining in the half, and reserve quarterback Chris Wikle tossed a 28-yard touchdown pass to Jacob Clark with 1:07 remaining to make it 56-7.

Orange lost to Pacifica last season, 75-13, when the Mariners set a school record for points scored.

Orange’s junior running back Jeremy Poole helped make Friday’s game closer, scoring two touchdowns. One came on a 92-yard run, and Poole finished with 204 yards rushing in 18 carries.

Orange’s Ryan Johnson caught two touchdown passes from quarterback C.J. Joiner and Johnson also completed a 23-yard touchdown pass John Potter.
