The third passenger, Tomas Martinez, 32, had only minor injuries after the crash early Saturday morning on California 118 at Somis Road. He was treated and released.

Bernadino Martinez was driving west around 6:30 a.m. and was trying to pass another vehicle when he collided with an eastbound semitruck.

Martinez’s car was sheared in half between the front and back seats. The truck driver, Arutyun Nersalyan, 31, of Los Angeles was not injured.
