FOCUS: ORANGE COUNTY COMMUNITY NEWS : SEAL BEACH
Mayor Paul Yost, City Council members and staff celebrated the State of the City luncheon at the Naval Base on Wednesday.
Although he expressed concerns over a loss of city revenue from utility tax exemptions, the mayor said the city’s finances were sound.
The celebration, however, was clouded by controversy at City Hall. A day after the city’s former treasurer said she may sue the city if she is not reinstated, City Manager Keith Till referred to the issue at the luncheon, calling himself a “human punching bag.”
Elizabeth Stoddard was dismissed Sept. 10 by Till. She filed a claim against the city three days later alleging wrongful termination and emotional distress.
