LAGUNA NIGUEL
Permanent repairs finally have begun on a 200-foot section of Alicia Parkway that collapsed nearly two years ago during El Nino rains.
Two of Alicia Parkway’s three lanes will be closed from Crown Valley Parkway to Ivy Glenn Drive during the construction, which is expected to be finished in June, said Nick Renn, city engineer.
City officials waited on federal funding approval before they jumped into approximately $400,000 to 500,000 worth of construction, Renn said.
Federal funds will cover nearly 88% of the project. The city will evenly split the remaining costs with Town Center Associates, which owns a portion of the damaged road that dead-ends into Crown Valley Parkway.
