In the Century League:
No. 1 Villa Park 9, El Modena 7--Jeff Tuttle hit a two-run home run, scored three runs and recorded his second save of the season for Villa Park (15-1, 9-0). El Modena (6-10, 3-6) closed to within 9-7 on Kyle Nicoletti’s two-run double in the bottom of the seventh, but Tuttle came in and got the last two outs.
In the South Coast League:
Capistrano Valley 8, Mission Viejo 7--Senior first baseman Scott Cheo hit a bases-loaded single to right in the bottom of the seventh to win it for Capistrano Valley (9-7, 5-4), which moved into a three-way tie with Mission Viejo and El Toro for second place. Cheo also hit a three-run home run in the fifth.
In the Sunset League:
No. 2 Fountain Valley 5, Marina 1--Sophomore Josh Bartusick hit two long home runs and Brent Erickson recorded his first save of the year for Fountain Valley (13-3, 7-2). Bartusick hit a three-run home run in the first and a two-run homer in the fourth.
Casey Janssen (4-0) struck out five for the Barons. Robert Saltarelli doubled for Marina (7-8, 4-5).
No. 5 Esperanza 4, Huntington Beach 2--Matt Parrish hit a two-run home run in the seventh to break a 2-2 tie for visiting Esperanza (13-3, 6-3).
In the Arcadia tournament:
Sunny Hills 5, Pasadena 2--Ron Skyberg had a two-run home run in the second and Corey Achay a two-run triple in the third for Sunny Hills (9-9) in the title game.
