A 30-year Pasadena man is expected to be charged today with fatally stabbing another man Saturday night in a local park, authorities said.

Jose Pedro Garcia, 30, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of murder and was being held without bail, Pasadena Police Lt. Keith Jones said.

Roman Conrado, who lived in Pasadena, was stabbed to death in Villa Park some time after 9 p.m. He and Garcia had been watching friends play cards when Garcia abruptly left on his bicycle, police said. Garcia returned later and stabbed Conrado with a kitchen knife, Jones said.

Garcia and all the card players fled, but a bystander hearing Conrado’s cries flagged down a patrol car. Conrado died a short time later at Huntington Memorial Hospital.

Police said the two men had had an ongoing feud.

“There had been at least one physical altercation between the two in past that was never reported to police,” Jones said.

Investigators were able to track down witnesses who were at the card game and arrested Garcia as he rode to work early Sunday morning.
