Team’s Schedule Gets a Little Bit Tougher

Share

The Dodgers aren’t having much luck with weather.

They were rained out Monday for only the 17th time at Dodger Stadium, forcing another rescheduling. Their game against the New York Mets on April 9 at Shea Stadium was postponed because of snow.

Monday’s game against the Houston Astros has been rescheduled June 8 at 6 p.m. at Dodger Stadium. The game against the Mets will be played April 24 at Shea Stadium, and the time has been changed from 4 p.m. PDT to 10 a.m.

The Dodgers lose two days off with the changes. “You don’t like it, but there’s nothing you can do about it,” utilityman Jose Vizcaino said. “You’d rather play the games and have your off-days like they were [scheduled], but you have to play the games and you can’t change the weather. You just have to go play.”

The Dodgers face the Mets between road series against the Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves. The game with Houston occurs after a road series against the Texas Rangers, and the beginning of a 10-game homestand.

“You know what you have to do, and you just do it,” reliever Mike Fetters said. “It doesn’t rain too much around here, so you better take advantage of the day off, and be ready to play when we get it in later.”

* Update--Dreifort will pitch today on five days’ rest, bumping Carlos Perez from his scheduled turn. Dreifort had a no-decision in a 6-5, rain-suspended victory over the San Francisco Giants at Pacific Bell Park that began Wednesday and concluded Thursday. The right-hander gave up two runs in five innings against the Giants. Dotel was also scheduled to work Monday. Shane Reynolds is now scheduled to start Wednesday instead of Scott Elarton. Right fielder Moises Alou (tight right calf) is doubtful.
