3 Students Held Over ‘Hit List’
Three teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of threatening to kill a “hit list” of high school classmates on today’s one-year anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre.
Police said Wednesday that three 15-year-olds, two boys and a girl, were taken into custody after the discovery Tuesday of threatening graffiti and the list of names at Encinal High School in Alameda, just south of Oakland.
School officials and police around the country are on alert for incidents relating to the shooting rampage at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo., where two teenagers murdered 12 students and a teacher before killing themselves.
Police Lt. Greg Garrett said no weapons had been discovered and police were inclined to dismiss the incident as a prank.
“The motivation was to frighten students and school officials into canceling classes,” the police statement said.
