Errors Costly for Lancaster

The Lancaster JetHawks committed two of their four errors during a three-run seventh inning to give Rancho Cucamonga a 7-4 victory Friday night at the Epicenter.

Harvey Hargrove and Bo Robinson had run-scoring ground outs during a two-run sixth inning for the JetHawks (10-6) to cut Rancho Cucamonga’s lead to 4-3.

Jeff Heaverlo (3-1) of Lancaster allowed six runs, three earned, on eight hits with four strikeouts and one walk in 6 1/3 innings.

The JetHawks maintained a a one-game lead in the South Division over Lake Elsinore, which lost at San Bernardino. Outfielders Juan Silvestre and Harvey Hargrove, and utility Craig Kuzmic have been delivering clutch hits, and middle infielders Willie Bloomquist and Antonio Perez have been setting the table.

Bloomquist, a second baseman who is hitting .315, leads the Cal League with 15 runs and Perez, a shortstop hitting .264, is third with 13.

Right-handers Josue Matos (2-0) and Enmanuel Ulloa (1-0) climbed to first in the league in two categories. Matos has not yielded an earned run in 17 innings and has 17 strikeouts. Ulloa leads the league with 25 strikeouts in 18 innings.
