A Week of Holocaust Remembrance Services and Events

Yom Hashoah--also known as Holocaust Remembrance Day--is Tuesday but will be marked throughout the week by synagogues and Jewish organizations around Orange County.

A memorial service for those who perished in the Holocaust will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Jewish Federation of Orange County, 250 E. Baker St. in Costa Mesa. The event will include a presentation by the center’s Menorah Readers’ Theater, readings of student essays and music.

On display before and after the program will be the Anti-Defamation League’s traveling exhibit on the history of anti-Semitism. Information: (714) 755-5555 Ext. 236.

In Irvine, Yom Hashoah will be the theme of services at University Synagogue on Friday at 8 p.m. Leon Leyson, the youngest survivor on Schindler’s list, will speak. The synagogue is at 4915 Alton Parkway. Information: (949) 553-3535.

* “Pastoral Love Celebration V: The Shnammite Project, Making Room for the Man of God” will begin at 7:15 p.m. Monday and continue nightly through Friday at Calvary Baptist Church.
