Let’s Go, Batter Up, We’re Taking the Afternoon Off!

In response to Eugene Walsh’s letter of April 22 regarding Dodger games on radio and TV, I totally agree with the Monday/Porter evaluation, but the last paragraph is confusing: “Thank goodness for the few TV games, when we can cut off the sound and just watch the game.”

With 85% of the games in April and May on TV and Vin Scully doing all nine innings (with the first three simulcast), what’s the gripe?

Vin Scully is the best, he is a legend, he’s a Hall of Famer, he’s a sacred cow, he has been the voice of the Dodgers for 50 years, but that voice never stops. We get more than three hours of continuous talk and more superfluous chit-chat than we deserve. Does anyone really care that Mel Ott had a dog named Pal?

Please, Chairman Bob Daly, give Scully a rest and let Rick or Ross do four or more innings.

I would be willing to bet I’m not alone in requesting this.
