Wanda Lee Henry; Retired County Employee

Wanda Lee Henry, a retired personnel assistant, died Saturday at a local hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 69.

She was born Aug. 24, 1930, in Pauls Valley, Okla. When she was about 13, she moved to Ventura County with her family and had been a resident ever since.

In 1972, Henry began a 20-year career with the county of Ventura as a personnel assistant. According to family members, she was known for her high degree of professionalism, her knowledge of policies and procedures, and for helping her co-workers. She retired in 1992.

Henry enjoyed sewing, gardening and attending her grandchildren’s sports events.

She is survived by sons Rick and John, both of Ventura; daughters Clara of Ventura and Wanda Marie of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are scheduled today at 10 a.m. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura, which handled the arrangements.
