Edward L. Scrivner; Retired Warehouseman

Edward Lewis Scrivner, a retired warehouseman, died at his home in Santa Paula on Sunday. He was 63.

He was born Jan. 11, 1937, in Fresno, the youngest of 11 children. He moved to Templeton at a young age and graduated from Templeton High School in 1955.

Scrivner was self-employed in the Paso Robles area before going to work at Texaco for 20 years. After he retired, he joined Nieco Aviation for about five years before retiring a second time.

He resided in San Luis Obispo, Fresno and Kern counties before settling in Santa Paula in 1985.

Scrivner was a member of the Santa Paula Moose Lodge No. 2097 and had been a member of the Petroleum Club in Santa Maria, Coalinga, Bakersfield and Piru.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and auto racing. He also enjoyed telling tales and jokes.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Chris “Tina” Scrivner; sons Troy of Lockwood and DeWayne of Oregon; sisters Virginia Slayton and Helen Domeney-Parker, both of Fresno, and Dorothy Clark of Brown’s Valley; stepdaughters Jill Jeffries of Arizona and Dana Plunket of Corpus Christi, Texas; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Graveside services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Santa Paula Cemetery with Santa Paula Moose Lodge No. 2097 officiating. A celebration of his life will be held at the Moose Lodge following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Assisted Home Care Hospice, 2140 Eastman Ave., Ventura CA 93003 or to local Moose Lodge charities.

Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Bros. Stetler Mortuary in Santa Paula.
