Lisa Ferrero of Lodi built a huge lead and held off Ina Kim of Encino, 3 and 1, to win the 52nd U.S. Girls’ Junior Amateur golf championship Saturday at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, Ore.

Ferrero won four of the first five holes and was 6 up through 11 holes before Kim rallied by winning four of the next five holes. Ferrero clinched the victory with a six-foot birdie putt on 17.

“I just couldn’t hit the ball on the front nine,” said Kim, a senior at Harvard-Westlake High. “I just sort of handed it to her. I was playing terrible. To be 6 down is embarrassing.

“I thought to myself, ‘If I lose 6 down, I’m going to be the biggest choker ever.’ ”
