ABC News Apologizes for an Error on Organic Food in a ‘20/20’ Segment

ABC News apologized for an error in John Stossel’s Feb. 4 “20/20” report, rerun on July 7, on the safety of organic food.
Stossel had reported that produce tested at the request of ABC News found no pesticide residue, but in fact, ABC said, the produce hadn’t been tested for pesticides.
ABC, which investigated the error after questions were raised by an organization called the Environmental Working Group, said Stossel was given wrong information and that it is reviewing the circumstances surrounding the error, which will be corrected on Friday’s broadcast.
An ABC source said the error appears to be the fault of a seasoned producer who got confused.
