The CNN host splits his time between Los Angeles and Washington.
Food, Glorious Food: My favorite restaurants are Spago, the Palm, Dining Room at Beverly Wilshire, Mr. Chow and, of course, Nate & Al’s, where I eat breakfast every morning. I have a limited diet because I watch my health, so I eat the same thing at each of these spots--chicken, fish, salad. In other words my heart and weight are good.
Fit as a Fiddle: Fitness is a part of my week and weekend. I have a daily routine that never changes. I work out every day, fast walking and lifting weights. I became kind of a nut on this. It is the one thing in my life that doesn’t change.
Another Opening, Another Show: L.A. theater gets better all the time. The “Ragtime” company here was brilliant, and I am going to take my son, Chance, to see “The Lion King” Oct. 26.
Biding My Time: For relaxation, I like to have dinner with friends or play with my two boys, which is the best kick of all. I try to get to the racetracks.
Making a List: I have no excuse, but I have not been to the Getty Museum. My family and my friends have all been there. As soon as the DNC is over, I am going.
Walking in L.A.: This is not the greatest walking city, but I enjoy walking all over Beverly Hills. I love watching Chance scare the birds off of Santa Monica Boulevard. I take friends to Rodeo Drive, which is a must-see, Griffith Park and, of course, sporting events. I am a sports nut. I love the Nike store on Wilshire; I don’t know why. I like looking at the shoes and the sports apparel.
Thank You Very Much: I have a wonderful life: great wife, six terrific kids--grown, mid-grown to babies--a great group of friends and co-workers. All of my life is a treat and the weekends just more so. In the movie “Broadcast News,” William Hurt asked Albert Brooks: “What do you do when every wish in your life comes true?” Brooks responded, “You shut up.”
