A day after passing out, Texas Ranger pitcher Ryan Glynn was cleared by team doctors to play.

Glynn was released from a hospital Saturday night, with doctors saying they were unclear as to why the rookie fainted in the dugout a day earlier.

After Texas defeated Boston, 6-3, Ranger team physician Dr. John Conway, said the doctors who examined Glynn over a 24-hour period said the pitcher will be able to make his next scheduled start, against the New York Yankees on Wednesday.

Doctors also said they still did not know exactly what caused Glynn to pass out, but the temperature at game time Friday was 98 degrees and Glynn threw 95 pitches.

Glynn will have more tests on Monday, and if no problems are discovered then, Manager Johnny Oates said he will start Glynn on Wednesday.

Minnesota Twin catcher Chad Moeller left Saturday night’s game against Toronto with a torn ligament in his right knee and will be put on the 15-day disabled list.

Moeller tore his right meniscus and will undergo arthroscopic surgery.

“He just crouched and something popped,” Twin Manager Tom Kelly said. “It’s really unfortunate because the kid was doing a nice job.”

Moeller, called up from triple-A Salt Lake City on June 20, was hitting .216 with one home run and seven runs batted in in 102 at-bats.

In other news, the Twins have asked major league baseball for permission to play three games against Texas on Sept. 18-20 at a temporary, 25,000-seat outdoor stadium near the Mall of America, which was built on the site of the Twins’ old home, Metropolitan Stadium.
