Kinser Wins Outlaws Iowa Sprint Car Race
Mark Kinser bolted into the lead with five laps to go and held it the rest of the way to win the World of Outlaws Knoxville Nationals sprint car championship for the second straight year and third time overall.
Donny Schatz, seeking his first victory in the series this season, led for most of the race and seemed to be in control. But when Schatz went wide on the 25th lap, Kinser darted inside for the lead, stayed there and claimed the $100,000 first prize in sprint car racing’s biggest event.
“We made too many mistakes at the end of that race,” Schatz said. “He broke by from the bottom and kept going.”
Danny Lasoski, who started from the pole position, finished third, Johnny Herrera was fourth and Craig Dollansky fifth.
The race was stopped twice by accidents.
