Holly McPeak, who qualified for the Olympics last weekend with partner Misty May, advanced through the contender’s bracket with new partner Carrie Busch at Beach Volleyball America’s Long Beach Open.

May is sidelined until the Sydney Games because of a stomach injury, and McPeak and Busch needed a 15-7 victory over Gayle and Wendy Stammer to advance in the double-elimination tournament.

Advancing to the winner’s bracket semifinals were top-seeded Annett Davis and Jenny Johnson Jordan, Lisa Arce and Barbra Fontana, Linda Hanley and Karrie Poppinga and Elaine Youngs and Nancy Reno.
