Arson Suspected in Fire Outside Temple
Authorities are looking into a suspicious fire Sunday night outside a Jewish temple.
A caretaker for Temple Beth Torah on 7620 Foothill Road discovered an overturned plastic trash can and a pile of garbage burning just outside a classroom at the temple about 10:30 p.m. Firefighters from the Ventura Fire Department doused the burning garbage. No injuries or other property damage were reported.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, but arson is suspected.
“It looks like someone grabbed the trash can, dumped it, and then set the trash and the can on fire,” said Battalion Chief Rod Smith.
