Miami receiver Lamar Thomas will miss his second consecutive season because of an injury.

The Dolphins put Thomas on injured reserve Tuesday, the day after he broke and dislocated his right hip after catching a five-yard pass and being hit on the first play of an exhibition against Green Bay.

Thomas missed last season because of a left shoulder injury.

The Dolphins also said Jay Fiedler would start at quarterback in their exhibition finale at New Orleans on Friday. With good play, he could beat out Damon Huard for the starting job, replacing retired Dan Marino.
