Police Take 12 Into Custody After Man Is Shot to Death
A man was killed and 12 people were in police custody for questioning Wednesday after being flushed out of a house with tear gas, police said.
The man was found shot in front of a house about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in a neighborhood near 58th and Main streets, said Los Angeles police Lt. Roger Deranian, of the Newton division.
The victim was taken to County-USC Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The SWAT team was called to the address, where 12 men refused to come out of two houses, Deranian said. The officers had to use tear gas to get the men to come out.
The 12 men were being detained and no arrests had been made as of Wednesday afternoon, police said. The motive for the shooting was unknown.
