2 Cities Get Freeway Turnoff Signs

Two massive green signs designating a highway turnoff for Fillmore and Santa Paula will be unveiled Monday afternoon, according to Supervisor Kathy Long.

The signs, which say “Santa Paula/Fillmore Next Exit,” will be put near the northbound and southbound intersection of California 126 and the Ventura Freeway.

Directional signs previously listed the two towns, but when Caltrans redid them a number of years ago, they replaced the eastbound destination with Santa Clarita.

“I didn’t get an explanation for why that happened, but it sounded like from a regional standpoint the road was heading to the Santa Clarita Valley and they wanted to say that,” said Greg Galloway, spokesman at Long’s office.

The signs will be unveiled at the Government Center at 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
