Nuggets Knock Off 76ers

Antonio McDyess got some help from his Denver teammates for a change.

McDyess, who scored 77 points the past two games, was one of four Nuggets to record a double-double as Denver beat the Philadelphia 76ers, 105-98, Monday night at Denver.

Raef LaFrentz led the way with 25 points and 14 rebounds and Antonio McDyess had 24 and 11. Voshon Lenard added 19 points and 12 rebounds and Nick Van Exel scored 17 with 10 assists as the Nuggets became the only team to score 100 points against Philadelphia in 17 games this season.

Allen Iverson had 37 points and nine rebounds for the 76ers, who lost for only the third time in 17 games this season.

Tests confirmed that Chicago Bull forward Elton Brand does not have ligament damage in his left knee, which he hyperextended in Friday’s loss to the New York Knicks. Brand, listed as day to day, hopes to play tonight at Minnesota. . . . Utah Jazz reserve forward Donyell Marshall has a sprained ligament in his left knee and is expected to miss tonight’s game against Toronto. Marshall was hurt on a non-contact play during Saturday’s loss to Charlotte. . . . Ingrida Sabonis, the wife of Portland Trail Blazer center Arvydas Sabonis, was charged a second time with drunken driving, violating her court agreement to avoid alcohol. She had a blood-alcohol level of 0.26%, more than three times the legal limit of 0.08%, a sheriff’s spokesman said in Portland, Ore.
