Toledo Means Business
Coach Bob Toledo grimaced as he walked outside the practice field Wednesday and saw two agents talking to several of the Bruin juniors who have expressed interest in turning pro. Toledo can’t bar the agents from campus, but he has warned the players that accepting cash or gifts from an agent jeopardizes the eligibility of any player wishing to return to UCLA.
Linebacker Robert Thomas, one of five juniors who have asked the NFL to project where he might be drafted, said the agents weren’t the first to stop him on campus and won’t be the last.
“I’ve got football to play. There’s a time for them, and this isn’t the time,” Thomas said. “But I’ll respect them and talk to them. That’s their job. It’s like me trying to get a tackle. They’re trying to get a client.”
