Shops From Long Beach to Glendale Dishing Up Deals for Holiday Tables

If the holiday table needs some help or your china cabinet reveals some blank spaces, a trip to the Mikasa outlet for its annual warehouse sale--through the end of the month--may be just the ticket.

Figure anywhere from 15% to 70% off a huge selection of merchandise, including china sets, glassware and individual serving pieces.

If you buy a discontinued pattern, think ahead and perhaps get two. At these prices it pays.

Dishes a la Carte always has festive tabletop pieces at deeply discounted prices, many first-quality samples. We love the Laurie Gates Christmas line of cookie jars, many of which retail for $60 but are tagged here at $29.

A particularly good buy is the embossed square bowls, also from Laurie Gates, for $9.99 (retail $25).

Remember the Lotus from Metlock, so popular in the ‘70s? It recently was reissued and there are some excellent deals. Some platters (and who has enough of these?) that sell for $65 are $29, along with lidded casseroles for $19.99 that were $45.

Also check out the huge, platinum-footed bowls for $139 that you have seen in stores for $280.

There will be a holiday sale Saturday at the Cinema Glamour Shop, with upscale apparel and home furnishings donated by members of the motion picture industry to support its retirement home. During most of its sales, merchandise is generally half off of half off, and the holiday sale promises to be even better.

Mark Tuesday through Thursday for the sale by Fleurette, which manufactures upscale women’s cashmere jackets, coats and capes at wholesale prices and below. Jackets that retail for $1,000 will be $300-$400, and capes will be $150. The inventory includes last season’s overstocks, samples and a few seconds.
