Hit-Run Driver Kills Motorcyclist
A motorcyclist was killed on California 33 late Saturday, and police are searching for the driver of the pickup truck that struck him, officials said.
Trevor Wedemeyer, 18, of Ventura died at the scene of the accident, which happened about 11:30 p.m. on northbound California 33 just past the Ventura Freeway interchange, police said.
Wedemeyer was traveling in the left lane when he drifted into the center divider and was thrown from his bike onto the road, police said.
Wedemeyer was then hit by a white, full-size pickup, which didn’t stop, witnesses told police.
Wedemeyer was wearing a helmet, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor, police said.
Anyone with information about the driver of the pickup is asked to call the California Highway Patrol at 477-4100.
