Tech Experts Sought for City Task Force
City officials are looking for technology experts to help attract computer-based businesses and telecommunications industries to Fullerton.
The Technology Infrastructure Task Force was recently set up by the City Council at the urging of Mayor F. Richard Jones. In recent years, the city has seen a steady drop in the number of businesses based in Fullerton--a trend highlighted by the loss of Hunt-Wesson and Hughes, which closed local operations as a part of corporate restructuring.
Applicants for the new task force must live or work in Fullerton and have some expertise in Internet service, computers, cable television, fiber-optic networks and telecommunications or education and commercial real estate. Applications can be picked up in the City Council office on the first floor of City Hall, 303 W. Commonwealth Ave.
The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Jan. 12.
The group will consist of nine volunteer members who will meet at least once a month for about 18 months. Information: (714) 738-6311.
