A man drove his car into a resident’s yard after going over an embankment on Sepulveda Boulevard on Friday morning, Los Angeles police said.

Mohammad Naghavi, 68, of Beverly Hills suffered a concussion and minor injuries, said Officer Ryan Lorey of the LAPD Valley Traffic Division. Naghavi was taken to UCLA Medical Center, where he was treated and released, police said.

Naghavi was driving a Mercedes 300 north on Sepulveda when he knocked over a fence and tree just north of Dartford Way about 9:30 a.m., Lorey said. The car came to rest against two trees.

Naghavi said he was having trouble with the brakes before the crash, Lorey said. Firefighters pried him out of the car in about 15 minutes, authorities said.

Abrahami Dalia said she was in her bedroom when she heard the car crash through her yard, knocking down a portion of fence and a tree, before it stopped.

“It was very scary. I thought it was an earthquake,” said Dalia, 44, who called 911.
