* St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church in Newbury Park will have a seven-week course on Positive Discipline from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday beginning this week.

The course is designed to give parents the opportunity to share problems that arise in the daily routine of parenting a child and to find common-sense solutions.

The cost is $50 per family. Child care is available for a fee.

Branch 380 of the Italian Catholic Federation will hold a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Friday at St. Paschal Baylon Church in Thousand Oaks. All Italian Catholics are invited to join the group.

The congregation of St. George’s Anglican Church has elected its board of directors for the year.

John Gillespie of Santa Barbara will be senior warden, and Ronald Ryan of Moorpark will be junior warden. William Henry of Oxnard will be clerk of the vestry, Thomas Brooks of Ventura will be treasurer, and Lisa Evetts of Ventura is a vestry member.

St. George’s traditional Anglican services follow the 1928 Book of Common Prayer and are held at 10:30 a.m. Sundays in the chapel at 6300 Telephone Road in Ventura.
