Long Beach Streak Reaches 14
Ramel Lloyd scored 23 points to lead a balanced Long Beach State scoring attack as the 49ers posted their 14th consecutive victory, a 98-82 victory at Cal State Fullerton on Saturday night.
The 49ers, 16-3 overall and 8-0 in the Big West Conference, also received 18 points and 13 rebounds from Mate Milisa, 15 points from Antrone Lee and 19 from James Williams.
Ike Harmon led the Titans (8-11, 3-5) with 23 points.
After 13 lead changes in the first half, Long Beach State took the lead for good with a 7-0 run capped by D’Cean Bryant’s three-point basket with 3:35 left in the half. Fullerton got as close as two points three times in the second half, the last at 63-61 on Harmon’s three-pointer with 10:37 left in the game.
After a timeout, Williams notched a three-point play for the 49ers. Long Beach followed with four consecutive free throws for a 70-61 lead with 8:52 remaining. The Titans never got closer than seven points again.
Long Beach State shot 64% from the floor and outrebounded the Titans, 31-19.
