Children from Glendale, Calabasas, Van Nuys and Westlake Village will be among the 4,800 Southern California students expected to participate this week in a Presidents Day celebration.

The event at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills will feature actors portraying Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and Betsy Ross and will include presentations on the Civil War, the American Revolution and the history of the American flag.

The Lincoln presentation will take place at the Lincoln Terrace, the site of a 16-foot-tall bronze statue of the 16th president and a mosaic recounting key events in his life.

Children also will watch a film on the nation’s founding.

Fifth-graders from Bay Laurel Elementary School in Calabasas and students from Conejo Valley Home Schoolers from Westlake Village are scheduled to attend Friday.
