Purdue Rallies, Upends Michigan State

Seniors Brian Cardinal, Mike Robinson and Jaraan Cornell helped Purdue rally from a 10-point deficit in the second half and the Boilermakers defeated No. 6 Michigan State, 70-67, in a Big Ten Conference game at West Lafayette, Ind.

Cardinal led the scoring with 17 points and Robinson added 16. Cornell had 10 of his 12 points in the second half.

The Boilermakers (16-7 overall, 7-3 in conference) trailed, 57-47, after Mateen Cleaves made a three-point basket with 13:20 to play. Michigan State (17-6, 7-2) then saw Purdue score 10 consecutive points to tie the score on a free throw by Robinson with 8:19 remaining.

After a couple of lead changes, Robinson’s layup with 2:54 remaining put the Boilermakers ahead to stay, 64-63.

“I was hoping that if we got them into a close game, because they hadn’t had one in several games, that it might help us,” Purdue Coach Gene Keady said.

The Spartans’ A.J. Granger matched his career high with 17 points.

No. 12 Florida 90, No. 11 Kentucky 73--The Gators validated their spot among the nation’s elite, getting 11 points and 18 rebounds from Mike Miller in an easy Southeastern Conference victory over the Wildcats at Gainesville, Fla.

It was the fourth victory in a row for Florida (18-4, 7-2), which pulled into a three-way tie for first in the SEC East with Kentucky (17-6, 7-2) and No. 8 Tennessee.

Teddy Dupay’s 14 points led six Gators in double figures. Freshman Keith Bogans led Kentucky with 24 points.

No. 16 Oklahoma 85, Kansas State 64--J.R. Raymond scored 17 points at Norman, Okla., as the Cowboys (19-3, 7-2) handed the Wildcats (8-13, 1-9) their ninth consecutive loss.
